I was lucky enough to win an advance copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway, and got to read it before it even hit shelves! I've got to admit to a little bit of bias regarding this book. You see, I judged a book by its cover. I lumped it in with the Harlequin novels of my mother's day, and opened it for reading with more than a little dread.
I couldn't be happier to report that I was WRONG! This book is full of mythology, lore, action, intrigue, with just the tiniest bit of angst thrown in on the hero's part. The story was well-paced, and I never felt that the story was being rushed, with too much crammed into any one part. The characters felt real. There was no happily ever after...they were scarred by their pasts, scared of their futures, and knew that the relationship was going to require trust and constant work. All in all this was a WONDERFUL read, and one I would recommend to paranormal romance lovers everywhere.
